North Haven Fire Department Responds to Motor Vehicle Crash Involving Pedestrian

NORTH HAVEN – Chief Paul Januszewski reports that the North Haven Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle crash where a pedestrian was struck and suffered serious injuries.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., firefighters received a report that a 37-year-old man from North Haven was struck by a 61-year-old man driving a four-door sedan. At the time, the pedestrian was walking on the southbound side of Washington Avenue, near number 640.

Crews from Engine 1 and Rescue 1 responded to the scene. The man was transported by ambulance to Yale New Haven Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

Washington Avenue is closed between Scrub Oak Road and Bradley Avenue.

The incident remains under investigation by the North Haven Police Department.
