North Haven Fire Department Extinguishes House Fire

NORTH HAVEN — Chief Paul Januszewski reports that the North Haven Fire Department extinguished a house fire this afternoon.

On Saturday, Sept. 16, at approximately 3:23 p.m., the North Haven Fire Department received a report of a structure fire at a residence on Rimmon Road.

Upon arrival, crews observed smoke showing from the rear of the home. North Haven Engines 1, 2, and 7, as well as Truck 1 and Rescue 1 responded to the scene. The Hamden Fire Department also responded to the scene for assistance.

Firefighters had the fire under control at approximately 4:00 p.m. The family pet, a dog, was rescued by firefighters. No other residents were home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.

The home is currently uninhabitable and the family is working with the Red Cross to find temporary housing.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the North Haven Fire Marshal’s Office.
